I’m Laurie, and welcome to centralcoastwinepress.com. Happy to meet you! I am a California native who made her way south down the coast of California after graduating from Western Washington University with a degree in journalism.
Before beginning my wine writing career in 2005, I worked as a news editor, copy editor and, briefly, as a business reporter, for nearly 25 years at five newspaper companies throughout California. I give thanks to my newspaper years for instilling in me a fondness for color and fonts, photography, good headlines and strong coffee.
In 2007 I took two entry-level enology and viticulture classes at Santa Maria's Allan Hancock College. I so liked the program and the instructors — most of whom with years in the wine industry — that I stayed four years and earned an associates degree. I cannot say enough good things about the college, and the instruction and knowledge proved invaluable to my writing career.
I love the beauty of the Central Coast, with the ocean and mountains, hills and vineyards, and plan to live here forever.
